Year 2 Newsletter for Parents
This half term we are looking at habitats in year 2, in particular rainforests. Here are some suggestions for are in which you could help your child with learning new skilsl this half term.
Literacy - We are reading The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl. Try researching crocodiles on the internet or library. Where/how do they live? What do they eat? Your child could create a fact book about crocodiles. Or maybe read other books by Roald Dahl, who is also our author of the month.
Maths- This half term we are investigating place value in number and addition and subtraction, with an emphasis on explaining how they came to their answers. You can help your child by practising their 2x 10x and 5x tables at home and test them randomly. Develop their mental maths skills by adding 10/ subtracting 10 from a given number. Can they see the pattern?
In our Science work we are investigating the rainforest. You can help your child by researching -What is a rainforest? Where are the rainforests of the world ? What is happening to them?
Please continue reading every night for 10 minutes with your child. This is the best thing you can do to help them.
Thank you for your support Mrs Bray Mrs Rutherford
