PE at St Cuthbert’s (Review of the Year 2018/19)
Over the 2018/19 school year, we have seen great success in PE at St Cuthbert’s school, we have had over 100 children participate in our afterschool clubs throughout the year. At the clubs children would take skills from PE and improve on them every week, children would get the chance to try new sports, which could lead to them joining a team outside of school.
This year has been a very successful year regarding competitions and sporting events. Our amazing football team won the Hartlepool premier league, the champion’s league, the HSFA town cup and represented the town at the tees valley finals were they came second. It has been a great year for football at the school and all children involved should be super proud of their achievements this year. Our girls football team also competed in the HSFA girl’s competition, they came third in the competition and shown great teamwork and sportsmanship during the full event.
Our wonderful year 4s took part in the town skipping championship, the children practised for a whole term to come up with a skip dance routine, which they all put in 100% effort. The children all really enjoyed the day and all improved their fitness with the amount of skipping they done in that term.
Our year4/5s competed at the cricket town finals, shown real determination during the day, and finished second in the full town for cricket, which is a great achievement for the team and school.
During the summer term, our year 5/6s competed in the town athletics finals, three year 6s and one year 5 got through to the tees valley finals for athletics. All children came back to school with a medal, which was fantastic and shows how hard they had all worked to get there. The effort shown was amazing and the children should be proud of themselves.
We had six children in the town finals for x-country this year, one year 5 came back to school x-country town champion after coming first in the year 5 division. Everyone who competed in the cross country done the school proud and all ran a good race they should be proud of their efforts during the day.
The school also competed in dodgeball, indoor athletics, tag rugby, sports days and many different competitions. Overall, we have had a great year for sport and hopefully next year we can continue to develop in PE as a whole school. All children should be proud of their efforts in PE this year.
