October 2019 Newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers,

It’s October already and the children have settled in to school life really well, as always. They are working hard, having fun, caring for one another and making St Cuthbert’s a great place to be.

We have a new school code and behaviour policy available on our website www.stcuthbertsschool.org.uk – we aim to ‘be ready, be respectful and be safe’ at all times.

We have also introduced ‘wellbeing time’ on Fridays when we reflect on the importance of relaxation and our mental health. A meeting is being held for parents to explore this and our new school curriculum. Please see details below.

School Fundraiser (tomorrow)

Friday 4th October is a non-uniform day for the school fund. This is used to subsidise transport costs, buy Christmas treats and pay for a school Panto for all children.

Macmillan Thank you!

Well done everyone on your fantastic support for the coffee morning held in the parish centre. £705 was raised to help support and care for those suffering from cancer.

Sports Success

Well done to our cross country team – Evie, Jay Charlie, Jack, Ellie, Saffron, Grace and Hollie who represented us at EMS. Well done everyone some great results and PBs. Evie and Jay got through to the next round for Tees Valley! Well done.

Well done also to our y5/6 football team who came second in a recent town competition at the sports domes. Great sportsmanship and teamwork.

School Choir

We are pleased to announce that our school choir has been chosen to represent Hartlepool at the Borough Hall for Children in Need. Watch out as you may see us on the television! (November 15th). Great singing everyone!

Drumming and steel band

We also have a steel band and drumming tuition offered by Miss Tootill. This will be starting again soon and anyone interested from Y4 upwards must see Miss Tootill. Weekly sessions take place each Wednesday after school.

Parents Evenings

Formal parent’s evenings will be held on 23rd and 24th October at 3pm until 6pm. Please keep one of these evenings available in your diary. Details to follow

Winter Story Evening

A story night will be held for children and their parents on Wednesday 13th November at 6-7pm in the school hall. All welcome – come in your PJs! Parents must attend with their child.

This is a great way to explore a story and the enjoyment of reading with your child and is free!

50 Club

We are asking parents to take part in our monthly draw with the chance of winning £25 per month. We only have 5 parents so far! It £1 per month or £10 for the year. All finds go to the school – please see the office or Mr Smith we desperately need your support.

Earrings and Jewellery

A reminder that earrings are not to be worn in school. Children can wear the flat plastic retainers which are much safer for Playtimes and PE. Thank you

Exploring our new curriculum and aims

On November 18th Mrs Wilson will lead a session for parents on our new curriculum and behaviour policy. It will be in the school hall at 6pm. Tea and coffee will be provided. Please come along.
