Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back

I hope you had a good half term break and are ready for a busy half term in the run up to Christmas. As usual there are many opportunities for you to join us in school so please see all the dates overleaf. Thank you for your feedback at our recent parents evening – we will be considering your comments and sending a response in the next few weeks. Thank you!

Remembrance Parade at Stranton Cemetery

All our very welcome to attend the short service for those who lost their lives in the great wars and wars since. The service starts at 10.40am on Saturday 9th November and our school choir will be singing and laying poppies for those who have died. It would be lovely to see you there.

Children in Need

The children may come dressed in spotty clothes on Friday 15th November to support children in Need – a small donation is requested. Choir children will be taking part in the children in need song ‘True Colours’ and may be on television on Look North and Children in Need at 8pm. J look out for us!

Christmas Fair – 29th November 3pm

We are collecting toys (in good condition), bottles, chocolate, tombola gifts and cuddly toys in good condition for our school fair. Please send in any donations ASAP. Thank you

PTA Meeting

We will have a parents and teachers meeting on Monday 18th November 9am in school to plan our Christmas Fair. New parents are very welcome if you can help to run a stall or give some time to set up. Many thanks. See you there.

Drumming and Steel Band

Tuition starts this week from Miss Tootill, if you are in Year 4 upwards you could be part of our steel band. We practise each Wednesday 3 - 4.30pm (see Miss Tootill for details)

Winter Story Evening

A story night will be held for children and their parents on Wednesday 13th November at 6-7pm in the school hall. All welcome – come in your PJs! Parents must attend with their child.

This is a great way to explore a story and the enjoyment of reading with your child and is free! We always begin with milk and cookies!

50 Club

We are asking parents to take part in our monthly draw with the chance of winning £25 per month. We only have 5 parents so far! It £1 per month or £10 for the year. All finds go to the school – please see the office or Mr Smith, we desperately need your support.

Exploring our new curriculum and aims

On November 18th Mrs Wilson will lead a session for parents on our new curriculum and behaviour policy. It will be in the school hall at 6pm. Tea and coffee will be provided. Please come along.

Christmas Craft days for parents

As usual we will be inviting parents in to the classrooms to come and work with their child/ren to make crafts together. Please come a long for 1.5 hours – it is lots of fun and we really appreciate the help. It’s great to learn with your children and we aim to run the days termly as feedback from parents has been very positive.

Our school is currently below national attendance figures of 96% - we hope to achieve this target this year and wish our children a year of good health! Please ensure your child is in school daily and holidays are taken during holiday time. It is important for your child’s progress and wellbeing to be in school every day. We will always send them home if they are very unwell. Thank you

13th December – Mrs Ahmed and Mrs Flounders class performance in school hall am and pm

20th December – Christmas Concert in Church 9.30am whole school (morning)
