May 2019 Newsletter
Welcome back to our summer term at St Cuthbert’s. With only 3 weeks to go until half term its action packed as usual. This term we are focusing on the importance of fitness in keeping a healthy mind and body. We are encouraging children and parents to become more active. Try a walk to school or a walk home or an evening walk each day. There are lots of local clubs for your children to join. Please see Mrs Smith for details of local sports clubs.
As you may be aware Mrs Maw (Y6 class teacher) will be leaving us temporarily on 24th May to have her baby. We hope it all goes well and wish her every blessing for the forthcoming birth. Miss Swain will be joining us from 3rd June and will be teaching our current Y6 until the end of the year and also teaching Y6 next year. We look forward to welcoming her.
Well done to our y5/6 football team who won the Hartlepool town cup last Wednesday at HUFC. They played against Sacred Heart School and won 3-0. We are extremely proud of all their efforts and sportsmanship. Well done everyone it’s a great achievement and thank you Mr Williamson.
Each Friday the children can wear sports clothes for Fitness Friday and complete a weekly challenge including a weekly mile. Our ‘wake up shake up’ sessions will begin again so please join in! We are also collecting photos of your children doing fitness activities so please send in.
This year our sports day will be held at Brierton sports centre on Friday 24th May. This will be held instead of our usual sports day on the field and parents are very welcome to come along and watch.
