Important Information - Free School Meals
The government has announced today an e-voucher/e-gift card scheme for pupils who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals. All schools are awaiting further information on the scheme so that we can roll the programme out.
The e-vouchers/e-gift cards are for term time only and we are working through the detail as we receive the information. Our plan is to continue as we have been, offering packed lunches, until after the Easter holidays, but if we can, we will claim your e-voucher/e-gift card this week.
For the next 3 weeks we will continue to provide FSM’s as we have been so please continue to come into your school to collect your FSM. We will inform you of further information as soon as we have it.
See If You Are Eligible?
Our pupils in reception, year 1 and year 2 have been in receipt of a universal free school meal, regardless of income levels.
However, universal free school meals will not be part of the voucher scheme. Those parents that think they may be eligible to apply for a FSM due to low income must now apply to HBC in order to receive a FSM voucher through the new scheme.
Families who are already in receipt of a FSM for children in years 3 and above who have younger siblings need to apply to HBC for those children too.
Your child may be eligible if you are in receipt of any of the following:
Income based Jobseeker’s Allowance
Income related employment support
Support under part VI of the immigration act
Guaranteed element of pension credit
Child tax credit (provided you’re not entitled to working tax credits and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
Universal credit if you apply after 1 April 2018 and household income is less than £7,400
You can apply online via the Hartlepool Council Website
Once eligibility has been confirmed school will be notified.
